Peter-Gordon Bell Ballantyne was born on 9 November 1867 at 3am, with his sister Margaret Kennedy Ballantyne being born four hours later at 7am. Georgina's mother, Isabella Ross, would most likely have been with her through this long labour. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of experience Georgina had giving birth to twins, at home, in 1867.
Like many of these discoveries of new children, there is a 'but' to this story. Sadly, within three weeks Peter died of an infantile fever, leaving his little sister Margaret behind.
Their other daughter Annabella, b. 1871, married William Anderson, a widower and forester, aged 38, on 19 December 1893, when she was 22 years old. They had five children together:
- Margaret b. about 1888
- William b. about 1888
- Katie b. 1889
- Murdo b. 1893
- Georgina b. 1896
Although it may seem that some of these children were born before Annabella's marriage to William, it is possible that Margaret, William and Katie were William's children from his first marriage.
